The mayor of Santa Marta, Carlos Pinedo Cuello, through his account on X (formerly Twitter) informed tourists and the community that traditional pot tours were prohibited in some areas of the city.
The measure was taken in order for Santa Marta to once again be orderly, clean and safe for everyone, as confirmed by the president. With this he confirmed the information that was circulating a few days ago among citizens, and from now on these types of plans will not be able to be made on the beaches of Pozos Colorados.

Pinedo said that, although all Colombians and foreigners are welcome to this part of the country, respect for the rules will be a fundamental part. For this reason, he stated that it is a priority to return Santa Marta to an orderly, clean and safe city for locals and visitors.
“In Santa Marta, everyone is welcome, but respect for the rules is essential! We have decided to prohibit “pot walks” on the beaches of Pozos Colorados to maintain an organized and safe environment,” were the words with which the mayor broke the news in a message on his X account.
Additionally, he thanked the authorities and the different entities that are supporting and collaborating in this new initiative.
“I thank the Secretary of Mobility and the Traffic Section of the Police for their collaboration. Thanks also to the association of fishermen, visitors and residents of the sector for working together on this cause. Returning Santa Marta to an orderly, clean and safe city for Samarians and visitors is a priority,” the president stated in the message.
Although for many this activity is already a tradition and they even planned to do it this Easter, taking advantage of the season of rest and increased visits to the city, the event was completely canceled in that sector.
In fact, there was great approval of the decision, since it would help with other issues that they are also seeking to address in Santa Marta, such as care, protection, among others.
For this reason, this decision was also approved by Cotelco Magdalena, an entity that classified the determination as a benefit in many factors, not only for citizens, but also for the sustainability and quality of the destination.
With the above, this organization also asked Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello to take into account other areas where these walks are also taken and to join the initiative. For example, sectors such as Bello Horizonte, Airport and Don Jaca.
