Although for many this activity is already a tradition and they even planned to do it this Easter, taking advantage of the season of rest and increased visits to the city, the event was completely canceled in that sector.

For this reason, this decision was also approved by Cotelco Magdalena, an entity that classified the determination as a benefit in many factors, not only for citizens, but also for the sustainability and quality of the destination.

With the above, this organization also asked Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello to take into account other areas where these walks are also taken and to join the initiative. For example, sectors such as Bello Horizonte, Airport and Don Jaca.

This measure is one of the security strategies implemented by the District authorities during Holy Week. Taking into account article 33 of the National Police and Coexistence Code in which it can be seen that it establishes behaviors aimed at preserving the tranquility and respectful relationships of people.

Furthermore, according to local media, this guideline was also taken into account due to the incidents that occurred during the first weekend of Semana Mayor, since on the Pozos Colorados beach in Santa Marta two private vehicles were parked in the sector and caused difficulties. in the mobility of visitors.

For their part, several Internet users have reacted to the mayor’s tweet and have shown their support for the new ban.

We need not only sporadic operations for that sector, we need a permanent policy that restores order and ensures respect for public space,” are some of the messages that can be read in the publication.
