Former Vice President of Beijing University Investigated for Bribery
Zhang Guang, the former Vice President of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, is under investigation for suspected bribery, according to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. The National Supervisory Commission concluded the investigation and transferred the case to the procuratorate for review and prosecution. The Jiangxi Provincial People’s Procuratorate has decided to arrest Zhang Guang on suspicion of bribery, and the case is currently under further processing.
Zhang Guang, born in Yichun, Heilongjiang Province in October 1973, was appointed as Vice President of Beihang University in December 2018. During his tenure, he was responsible for various departments including safety and stability, logistics support services, civil air defense, domestic cooperation, medical and health care, community management, and basic education.
The investigation into Zhang Guang’s misconduct revealed that he used public equipment for personal purposes and engaged in corruption, accepting gifts in violation of regulations. As a result, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has made the decision to expel Zhang Guang from the party and impose a sanction of dismissal from public office. His suspected criminal issues will be transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution, and his illegal income will be confiscated.
This scandal has had a serious impact and reflects a disturbing trend of corruption among officials. The government’s actions to hold Zhang Guang accountable for his wrongdoing demonstrate a commitment to combating corruption at all levels.
