Report to Anas for the mural of Candia

CANDIA CANAVESE

Some do not like the murals of the Borgo antico e arte project, which are about to be completed with the last brushstrokes in these days on the walls of some houses in the historic center of Candia Canavese. In particular, a report sent to the Piedmontese direction of the Anas stigmatized a large painting done in vicolo San Anna, overlooking the state road 26 of the Aosta Valley: “That mural distracts motorists and there is a risk of road accidents, it must be removed” , reads the report. Anas immediately inspected the site, who nevertheless confirmed the legitimacy of the mural, which will therefore remain in its place. Mayor Mario Mottino bewildered: the project, which began in 2007, and then interrupted, had been resumed by its executive. «The highway code only prohibits the installation of inadequate and unauthorized advertising signs – argues the mayor -. However, the Anas promotes the murals in the inhabited centers through street art. This morning I received an apology call from Anas. I am happy that the impasse has been resolved quickly. Too bad there are (very few) people animated only by envy and malice. I take this opportunity to thank once again the five artists who are making the paintings for free, on private properties authorized by the owners and by a council resolution, the Municipality has limited itself to the purchase of the material ». The five young artists, coordinated by the Candian painter Gianmario Quagliotto, author of the mural “indicted”, which portrays a band about to start a concert, had started working in August. They are: Sarah Storey from Castagneto Po, Gioele Morando from Caluso, Joaquin Paz from Cigliano, Massimo and Roberto Savino from Candia. Meanwhile, among the many comments of solidarity, the mayor also earned those of the famous sculptor and ceramist Brenno Pesci. Once again, art has won over stupidity.
