There is a temporary solution to the problems surrounding the grinding ear between Kosel and Brodersby. This is the result of a round table.

Representatives from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the State Agency for Coastal Protection, National Park and Marine Protection Schleswig-Holstein (LKN.SH) met on Wednesday for a round table with the mayor of Brodersby-Goltoft, Joschka Buhmann (WGBG) and tourism officials from the region. Result: From mid-April, the old grinding ear “Missunde II” will now be temporarily used again, as the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tobias von der Heide (CDU), announced afterwards.

“Make ends meet over the summer”

The electric ferry “Missunde III” will be used from autumn.

It is the best solution, “because it is quick and has already worked in the past. And that is why we decided to go back to the old concept,” says von der Heide. But that is not a permanent solution. The “Missunde II” should therefore continue to operate until the “Missunde III” is expected to be ready for use in the fall.

The new e-ferry has design defects: among other things, it does not hook onto the pier and drifts in rough seas because it is too heavy. Therefore, it could not start operations between Kosel (Rendsburg-Eckernförde district) and Brodersby (Schleswig-Flensburg district) in January as planned.

Further information

It is still unclear whether the state company LKN can take back the ferry that has already been sold. more
