During the past weekend, the Municipal Government Secretariat deployed a night operation that included patrolling, inspection, and control in northern corregimientos, such as: Río Seco, Badillo, and Las Raíces, with a view to promoting dialogue between the authorities and their population. Likewise, to avoid criminal and contraventional phenomena.
This was a comprehensive joint action that had the support of the motorized reaction of the Army, Children and Adolescents of the Police, Colombian Migration, Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, Public Space Unit and security team attached to the aforementioned sector.
In this sense, Tomás Molina, leader of Las Raíces, expressed the importance of this type of intervention: “Security is important in our corregimientos so that progress can come, so that people continue to visit us, so that these communities enter into that trust which has been lost for many years. These communities were hit by the armed conflict and we don’t want to go back to the same thing, we want to be at peace, that people continue to trust the authorities.”
For his part, Felipe Murgas, Secretary of Government, affirmed that they will double their efforts, in order to intensify patrols in the Valledupar corregimiento area.
