Throughout Juradó there is serious marine erosion that is devouring trees, palm trees and homes. It is estimated that in the last year alone the force of the waves and tides of the Pacific Ocean devoured more than twelve meters of the urban area.
Help is required from the national government to carry out mitigation works that protect the population, such as spurs, breakwaters, restoration of mangroves, replanting of vegetation, retaining walls, protection and regeneration of corals.
If this alarming phenomenon is not addressed, the municipal seat of Juradó could disappear in less than a decade.
