No reinforcement planned for the specialty offices of the State Police in the Belluno area, the Siulp blue uniforms union says it is dissatisfied with the first phase of the upgrading plan announced by the Ministry for the two-year period 2021-2022 and asks for help from Parliamentarians and institutions. The program that sets the criteria for the assignment of newly appointed agents was highly anticipated due to the forecast of numerous retirements and the problems caused by Covid-19, but the “booty” of young agents for our province seems to be particularly meager, especially with regard to specialized offices such as traffic police, postal and Polfer.
“The Belluno Siulp considers the plan unsatisfactory”, explain the union, “out of a total of 955 student agents, in fact, 4 will be assigned to the Belluno police headquarters (already recipient with the 2019/2020 two-year expansion plan of 25 agents), while no operator will be assigned to the offices of the specialty, traffic police in primis, which, once again, have been excluded from staff replenishment projects. A condition, that of the traffic police, well known to the department, reported several times with precise explanatory notes (most recently the letter delivered to the then chief of police, general director of public security, prefect Franco Gabrielli, on the occasion of his visit to Belluno last July 9) on the continuous erosion of the workforce, due to retirements, which have never been replenished for a decade ”.
The most immediate effect of this lack of generational change in the face of a large number of retirements will be a further reduction in the number of patrols, which have reached an unprecedented historical low: “The shortages are on average 33% (with peaks of 41%) and are destined, also for the Postale and Polfer, to grow even more given the average age of the operators well over fifty years “, continue from Siulp,” it was of no use, in terms of compensation and redistribution of resources at the provincial level, the closure of the Polfer di Calalzo ».
For this reason, the SIULP turned to the Quaestor, Prefect and parliamentarians from Belluno to find a solution: “The appeal addressed to them is to support our claims in the institutional tables”, they conclude, “this, in addition to representing a commitment for the category , it is also and above all a service for the territory and for the citizens of Belluno, because it is their safety that must be guaranteed ». –
