Ice and snow reflect fragrance. Among the more than 18,000 volunteers at the Beijing Winter Olympics, 94% are under the age of 35. The service scope covers 41 business fields such as sports competitions, venue management, language services, and news operations. Attentive service, showing enthusiasm and thoughtfulness; warmth of the field, showing dedication. There is a saying in the volunteer team of the Beijing Winter Olympics: “If you don’t participate in volunteer service at the Olympic Games, you don’t know how patriotic you are!” Ignite the enthusiasm of the field with professionalism and dedication.
The Olympic Games have never been just a simple competitive competition. A professional and warm volunteer service system is the foundation and guarantee for the successful hosting of the Olympic Games. From competition venues to closed-loop stations, from media centers to community streets, from event security to epidemic prevention and safety, the busy figures of volunteers paint unique landscapes inside and outside the arena. At the opening ceremony, American snowboarder Tessa Maud burst into tears because of the words “Welcome to China” by college student volunteers. In the Winter Olympic Village, the lanyards of volunteers’ work cards are full of badges from Winter Olympic athletes.
There is heat, and there is light. Volunteers are like “snow elves”, showing the world the confidence of Chinese youth.
At the National Cross-Country Ski Center, cold weather caused ice to form on the eyelashes of a Winter Olympic volunteer. She said that although she cannot appear on the field as an athlete, it is equally meaningful to be able to contribute light and heat as a volunteer and convey the Olympic spirit in the way of Chinese youth.

In the National Stadium “Bird’s Nest”, the emoticons “Chao Xiaozhi” and “Chao Xiaowan” were popular on the social platform of volunteers. Volunteer Ye Jiaxuan used such a set of designs to let everyone feel the beauty of volunteering.
In the “Ice Ribbon” of the National Speed Skating Stadium, the volunteers who guide the audience have to make hundreds of rounds of inspections in the stadium every day, and often stand for more than seven or eight hours. But “every moment we work together and silently contribute to the Olympic Games is full of sweat and happiness” is their common aspiration.
Like high profile athletes, volunteers are an integral part of the Olympic cause. The volunteer spirit of “dedication, fraternity, mutual assistance, and progress” is naturally in line with the “unity, friendship, peace, and progress” that the Olympic Movement upholds. The Olympic Games is not only a grand event for athletes, but also a stage for volunteers. “Burning snowflakes, warmth unites me and you”, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics volunteer song “Burning Snowflakes” sings the voice of volunteers-to the future together!
The Winter Olympics have a limited period, but the wonderful moments on the field and the youthful gestures of the volunteers together form a warm Olympic memory.
