Suspected extortionists at the service of the ‘Gulf Clan’ fall

The National Army in association with the Prosecutor’s Office carried out the capture of five subjects, who were allegedly dedicated to extortion in the Verdecia trail sector, jurisdiction of the municipality of Codazzi, Cesar, who were also members of the ‘Francisco José Mórelo Peñate substructure ‘, from the Gulf Clan.

These people were identified as Juan Andrés García Pacheco, Óscar Manuel Arrieta Vega, Ángelo Javier Madariaga, Karen Vanesa Robles Martínez and Laura Vanesa Rhenals Hernández.

The authorities reported that the operation to capture these citizens was carried out under a search and court order, in which five cell phones were seized.

Those captured were presented before the Second Municipal Criminal Court with Mobile Guarantee Control Functions of Valledupar, where the Prosecutor’s Office revealed that another subject identified as Iván Quintero, alias 90, was notified in a prison center where he is deprived of his liberty.

Likewise, the prosecuting body indicated that the defendants must answer for the crimes of extortion and conspiracy to commit a crime, since they allegedly intimidated merchants and small ranchers in the region to obtain economic benefits or otherwise they would allegedly threaten their lives.
