VALLEY OF CADORE. Don Alessandro Coletti from Cadore will be the new parish priest of Valle di Cadore, Venas and Cibiana, after the dramatic death of Don Giuseppe Bortolas. Bishop Renato Marangoni appointed him, immediately thanked by the mayors Marianna Hofer and Mattia Gosetti. “A double wish to Don Alessandro”, Hofer specifies, “because he will find himself taking on the delicate task of securing the church, for which the bishop Don Renato worked so hard”.

Coletti has so far been parish priest of Seren, Rasai, Valle di Seren and Caupo. On the evening of Saturday 21 August, the bishop met the unitary parish pastoral council of the four communities of Feltre, explaining the reason for his decision and asking them to understand the reasons. Born in 1983, Don Alessandro comes from the parish of Tai di Cadore and was ordained a priest in the Cathedral of Belluno on June 14, 2014; after ordination he was parish vicar in Sedico, Bribano and Roe until November 2018, when he became parish priest in the four parishes of the municipality of Seren del Grappa. At the Marcianum in Venice he attended the courses that led him to obtain a license in canon law in February 2021, a competence for which he is a member of the diocesan team for the protection of minors. Since 2019 he has been ecclesiastical assistant of Agesci for the Belluno area.

Don Alessandro’s place was taken by Fr Robert Soccal, as parish priest “jointly” with Fr Giuseppe Bernardi. Born in 1968, ordained in Belluno on 5 June 1993, in his 28 years of ministry Don Robert often interfaced with the world of youth: as parish vicar of Longarone, as deputy director of the Papa Luciani Center in Santa Giustina, as assistant to university students, as in charge of youth ministry and as a teacher of religion. For a short time Fr Robert was in Gaya in Niger as a “fidei donum” missionary.

The parish community of Tisoi, led in recent months by Fr Graziano Della Caneva, is instead entrusted to Fr Giorgio Soccol, together with the parishes of Orzes, of which he has been parish priest since 1999, and of Bolzano Bellunese, which he has led since 2011. All this in view of a collaboration that will also include the parish and the Franciscan fraternity of Mussoi. Born in Taibon Agordino in 1953, Don Giorgio was ordained a priest in Belluno in 1977. For many years he was the guide of the diocesan Caritas. Bishop Marangoni anticipated the times on Valle di Cadore, Venas and Cibiana. The appointment was expected in September, but evidently it was decided to speed up the choice to structure the accompaniment of the complex story of the church of San Martino. In recent months the bishop has shown a very particular attention to the problem and its effects on the community. He himself often went up to celebrate in Valle, as well as in Venas and Cibiana, directly taking care of the faithful, but not only of them.
