The inauguration of the renovated “Cantonét de Gena” completes the path desired by the Veses association and carried out over the last three years. access and installation of the stage to host cultural and musical moments.

All this was made possible thanks to the use of the proceeds from the volume “Sguardi sulla Valbelluna”. It was the third project carried out by the association chaired by Luciano Dal Molin, after the construction of the San Marco ford to cross the Veses stream in Santa Giustina and the recovery of a dry stone wall in Sospirolo.
“This place was indicated to us both by the municipal administration and by a collaborator of the magazine” Il Veses “, Pieranna Casanova”, said Dal Molin himself, “in the twenties Gena was a modern town, so much so that it had the electrification, unlike nowadays. In addition, people knew how to make the most of what the environment offered, especially water.
After the flood, the area remained prey to the advancement of nature. Now the people of Gena are returning and someone is considering the possibility of settling down in a stable way ». The works, designed by the architect Michelangelo Zanin, began with the safety of the retaining wall of the area where the water collection tank is also located by the tireless volunteers. In fact, it was completely spaced out and so, in three days, the recovery took place, respecting the instructions of the master Tommaso Saggiorato.
The wooden stage was then placed there, suitable for organizing any recreational moments. Around the fountain is the natural cobblestones or “codolà dei puarét”, as defined by the master installer Giuseppe Zamboni. Planted on sand, it is closed by cordoned brackets without cement around it. Furthermore, to reach the wash house from the road, there is a path with a containment wall whose beginning was bumpy. Hence the decision to create steps contained with wood and filled with cobblestones.
