The Colombian Beach Soccer Team was eliminated from the World Cup

On a new day in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the Colombian beach soccer team suffered a painful defeat against Senegal, leaving behind its hopes in the World Cup tournament organized by FIFA.

The final score was 5-3 in favor of the African team in a match valid for Group C.

The Colombians, who had already lost their debut against Japan 3-2, started the game in a promising way, taking the lead on the scoreboard with goals from Eduardo López and Juan Ossa. However, they could not maintain their advantage against Senegal’s push.

In the second half, Senegal managed to tie the score with goals from Ousseynou Faye and Mamour Diagne. But it was in the third half of the game that the Africans took control, scoring three consecutive goals through Raoul Mendy, Papa Ndoye and Mandione Diagne. Despite the Colombian effort, Esleider de Avila’s goal was not enough to reverse the final result of 5-3 in favor of Senegal.

With this defeat, Colombia says goodbye to the tournament in the group stage. Their next and last match will be against Belarus on February 20.

Meanwhile, Senegal and Belarus advance to the next round of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, both with six points in Group C, leaving Colombia in last position without adding points in this phase of the tournament.

It has been a good competitive start for the teams in the different tournaments: it is worth mentioning that the U-23 team was eliminated from the Pre-Olympic, as was the futsal team eliminated from the Copa América and now the beach soccer team from the World Cup.
