The disheartened workers still want to hope: “Acc and Ideal are our community”

by admin

BORGO VALBELLUNA. “Acc and Ideal are our whole life and the symbol of an entire community: don’t take them away from us, please”. The appeal with which the workers of Acc Wanbao and Ideal Standard took to the square in Mel yesterday morning is unanimous. And it is the workers of the Villa di Villa factory in Zumella who speak first. Their morale is on the ground.

«It is now a disastrous situation for us. I thought that somehow we could go on, but hopes are running out. I am sixty years old and if I think they leave us at home, not just colleagues of my age … I have no words. I had already been fired, but thanks to Commissioner Castro, a very good person, they hired us again. This time it won’t be like that anymore. We are exasperated, ”he says Valeria Venturin.

“Morale is lower than high,” he adds Catia Gaio, “Because hope is almost exhausted. According to us workers we have reached the end, because November 20 is in a few days. We go to work and do our duty, but no longer in the same spirit as a year ago. There cannot be something now, because there is little time. It’s almost finished. They find no one who wants to commit to acquiring the plant. If we were to remain closed for a couple of months it would certainly never reopen ». «For some time now we have been working only three days every two weeks», continues Catia Gaio, «very few. There are almost a thousand jobs between us and Ideal: I have never seen such a serious crisis in the Belluno area. Where we go? Abroad? We are no longer twenty. And those of forty would have a hard time finding a job ».

Per Fiorina Acampora the anxiety is great, because «we have reached a crossroads. Acc and Ideal either remain open or close permanently. The certainty is that without a job there is no future, especially for people of a certain age. It is no longer like it used to be, when if you closed a factory you would immediately find another. Today we no longer know where to go. The government must help us ».

Next to her is the colleague Tiziana Scopel, who explains: «Losing Acc is losing everything, certainly a part of the life we spent there. And not to mention all the sacrifices we’ve made to get by so far. We have been fighting for years, and we will continue to do so until the end, hoping to win this battle, which is fundamental for us. Acc means money for the family, for our children and future generations. One day Acc could also be their workplace. The factory is life ».

“We are fed up and we need an answer,” he intervenes Rosanna Cecconello, “Because we have been going on for a long time in a precarious situation. Now we want certainties. At home there are our children, mortgages to pay and many other things. We only ask the institutions to work. For the Region and for the province of Belluno, the closure of Acc and Ideal would be a great defeat ».

Also Maria Teresa Dal Mas he thinks like this: «So many sacrifices, fatigue, work. For what? From the government, I see no intention of helping us. And we tried in all ways, with manifestations and more. I see it hard now. I also have children who go to school. I’m a bit afraid, because getting back into the game at almost fifty as a young man of twenty would be tough. It would mean reorganizing everything again. For Borgo Valbelluna and the municipal administration, losing the two largest factories that brought in more revenue would be a serious blow. Our mountain territory is already penalized in everything: there is a lack of transport, services. And young people who go away to study do not come back because there are no job opportunities in the Belluno area. And there will be even less without Acc and Ideal ».

Per Piera Barp the closure of Acc is detrimental to everyone. «Acc is a family. And families shouldn’t be left alone to their fate ». “If there is work, why can’t we continue?” He asks Beniamino De Bastiani.

A little farther on, in small groups, there are the workers of the Ideal Standard, who, like the colleagues of the ACC, are tried by concern. «Ideal and Acc feed Borgo Valbelluna: depriving oneself of it is like the light of a candle that goes out. Our areas need work and development, ”he says Roberto Piani. «Ideal and Acc are the largest industries of the Sinistra Piave and if they close it is not a good sign. I forgive all of them », he adds next door Giuliano Torta. “Our only hope is that a clear agreement will be reached quickly,” he says Luciano Cadorin. “We are a company in good condition,” he agrees Damiano Centeleghe, «For which we are living a strange situation, which does not depend only on us».

Ennio Comel he adds: «The factory works well, so it’s not clear that the company is leaving. Times are tight. We hope that the plant will be sold and that work will continue ». Renzo Da Canal he says: «With all the people who are working hard for us it is aupice that we can find an agreement, both for Ideal and Acc, even if it is hard».

«If Acc and Ideal close, a lot of people will stay at home. It would be a huge loss for the territory ”, he concludes Rizzieri Piol spreading your arms. –
