St. Peter’s Square is ready to host the funeral of Joseph Ratzinger, the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. The large covered structure that houses the altar used for the religious function presided over by Pope Francis but officiated by the dean of the College of Cardinals, Giovan Battista Re, was erected in the churchyard of the Basilica. 3,700 priests celebrate the function.
