13 Dead in Coal Mine Accident in China, Party Secretary and Mine Director Dismissed

An accident at the Pingdingshan coal mine in Henan, China resulted in the death of 13 people. The party secretary and mine director of the coal mine involved were dismissed from their posts.

The official WeChat public account of the 12th Mine of Pingdingshan Tianan Coal Mining Co., Ltd. “Ping12xuan” announced on the evening of Monday (January 15) that Lu Youchang was removed from the post of secretary and member of the Party Committee of the 12th Mine upon the decision of the group party committee. Yang Jianshan, the mine director, was also removed from their positions.

According to the client of Securities China News, an accident occurred during production at the Twelve Mines, a subsidiary of Pingdingshan Tianan Coal Mining Co., Ltd. at about 2:51 pm on January 12, 2022. A coal and gas outburst accident resulted in the tragic deaths of 13 people, with three people still missing.
