The protected area of Torre Guaceto, in the Brindisi area, has obtained recognition as an inclusive park 2024 awarded by Fiaba Onlus and Federparchi, as part of the Objective Terra photographic competition promoted by the UniVerde Foundation and the Italian Geographical Society Onlus, which rewards the best area Italian protected area regarding accessibility for people with disabilities.
The awards ceremony was held at Palazzo Valentini, in Rome, on the occasion of World Earth Day.
“The organization has distinguished itself – we read in the motivation – for its commitment to implementing the solidarity principle of putting the person at the center without discriminating against their condition”. The president of Fiaba onlus, Stefano Maiandi, awarded the president of the Torre Guaceto consortium, Rocky Malatesta.
“The awarding of the prize is a source of great pride and emotion for us. This recognition – declared Malatesta – rewards 20 years of commitment made by the Torre Guaceto Management Consortium both on the protection front and on that of inclusive services. We work daily so that the protected area can be fully experienced by everyone without discrimination of any kind. Inclusiveness is our mantra”. “Our lido and the free services for the equal use of the sea have led us to win this prestigious award. We are – he concluded – immensely honored and we also strongly feel the need for constant improvement of the services we offer. We have an assiduous dialogue with associations that operate in the world of disability”.
