Last December it became known about another incident of insecurity in the historic center of Cartagena. It was a million-dollar scam on a Canadian tourist, who was charged a large sum of money for a ride in a car.

According to the complainant, this car trip initially had a cost of 100.00 Colombian pesos, However, I end up paying 18 million pesos in three transactions with your credit card.

For her part, the tourist assured that, due to lack of cash, she was forced to accompany the subjects to an establishment to pay by card, where she ended up withdrawing around $4,500.

“In the first transaction, she told me that the transaction had not gone through, then I gave her another credit card and she told me that the internet connection was unstable and that again the transaction had not gone through. The third time it did happen and then she said: “Welcome to Cartagena, “My city is beautiful, enjoy your vacation,” said the captured woman.

Although this is not the only case of scam that has occurred in Cartagena, could be considered one of the largest amid a long history of deceptions perpetrated by so-called tour operators.
