Iranian-German Citizen Arrested in Cali, Colombia for Drug Trafficking
In a dramatic turn of events, Iranian-German citizen Pouya Mohmini was apprehended by the National Police in Cali, Valle del Cauca, on charges of drug trafficking. The arrest was made possible through an Interpol red notice, and Mohmini is accused of being involved in the illegal shipment of over 16 tons of cocaine from Paraguay to Hamburg, Germany. This drug seizure in German territory in February 2021 was the largest in the country’s history.
According to official police statements, Mohmini had been hiding in the municipality of Jamundí under an assumed identity and was allegedly organizing and coordinating other criminal activities from there. The suspect, who was using the name Reza Raskshan to conceal his true identity, was arrested in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood of Cali.
Mohmini has been transferred to Bogotá and is set to be deported to face charges in Hannover, Germany. He is wanted for crimes related to the importation and trafficking of large quantities of narcotics, as well as arms trafficking.
