After the attack with a hammer on a taxi driver in Warnemünde, the trial against a 38-year-old man has begun at the Rostock district court.
The trial against a 38-year-old man began at the Rostock district court on Wednesday. He is said to have attacked a taxi driver with a hammer in April last year and seriously injured him. The public prosecutor’s office accuses him of causing grievous bodily harm with a weapon and acting in a way that endangers life.
The victim’s condition is unclear
The alleged perpetrator drove to Warnemünde in a taxi in April 2023. After arriving, the man is said to have hit the 59-year-old taxi driver several times in the head with a hammer and then injured him with a knife. The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. It is not known how the man is currently doing. He was called as a witness but did not appear.
Report: Defendant fully responsible
The police were able to arrest the suspect two days after the crime. The defendant made a confession in court. A report contradicted his defense attorney’s claim that his client was an alcoholic. Accordingly, the man is fully responsible. The trial continues on Tuesday next week.
