by admin

They slipped hundreds of meters down the mountainside

Tragedy touched on the Pollux, on the Monte Rosa massif, where two foreign climbers slipped for a hundred meters.

The accident occurred this morning at about 4,000 meters above sea level. The two, a German and a Frenchman, were walking in tether when they slipped and plummeted down the side of the mountain. Their fall stopped when the rope got stuck along a rock spur.

Both mountaineers were recovered by the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue which intervened by helicopter.

In the accident they suffered some bruises but no serious injuries. “Their conditions are good,” explains the single rescue center.
