“Even in the province of Udine, the phenomenon of mistreatment and violence against women is growing exponentially, with more or less serious crimes ranging from stalking to sexual violence and injuries, and therefore with this initiative we want to try to give an immediate response to the victims, beyond the criminal repression of the perpetrators of these crimes which we are required to deal with”. The chief prosecutor of Udine, Massimo Lia, said this today in Udine, inaugurating the Red Code inter-force group at the prosecutor’s office, established at the same prosecutor’s office and made up of 7 police and carabinieri investigators.
The group, whose exclusive responsibility will be to deal with crimes falling within the Red Code, i.e. mistreatment in the family, sexual violence, stalking, pedophilia, gender violence and revenge porn, is under the responsibility of the deputy police commissioner Daniela Furioso, and belongs to the pool of prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office that deals with this type of crime, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Claudia Danelon.
“We find ourselves faced with several cases of this kind every week – reported Danelon – obviously not all of the same severity, but all symptomatic of serious problems behind what apparently emerges, therefore all of them to be taken care of individually with the utmost Attention”.
Also taking part in the inauguration of the group today were the prefect of Udine, Domenico Lione, the police commissioner Alfredo D’Agostino, the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri, Orazio Ianniello, and of the Guardia di Finanza, Enrico Spanò, as well as the mayor of Udine, Alberto Felice De Toni, and the regional health councilor Riccardo Riccardi.
“It is an important initiative – underlined Lia – but coordination would also be needed to create a network between the various specialized actors in the area. Sometimes for an emergency intervention, perhaps during the night it is not possible to find accommodation for the victim suitable: we need a single body that has the pulse of the situation, even at a supra-municipal level, so that the judicial police operators – he concluded – can immediately find a place to host the victims of this violence”.
