A woman from Salzburg (52), well equipped, climbed alone on a via ferrata in the Völkermarkt district on Monday afternoon. She fell into her via ferrata set in the lower third of the climb and injured herself. A following alpinist was able to help the woman and accompanied her to a walking passage, from where the mountain rescue service was notified.
At the same time, two other climbers, who were also well equipped, had to turn back in the upper third of the via ferrata due to exhaustion and descended to the casualty. The Bad Eisenkappel mountain rescue service, which has now arrived, first looked after the injured person and finally abseiled all three alpinists with a hundred-meter rope. Six emergency services from the Bad Eisenkappel mountain rescue service and two officers from the Alpine police were on duty.
