Wang Youqun: Four highlights of Lithuanian diplomats’ withdrawal from China | The CCP has no bottom line | Friendly Taiwan

by admin

[Epoch Times December 17, 2021]On December 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania announced the recall of all diplomatic staff of the Chinese Embassy. The embassy will operate remotely in the future. Reuters reported that all diplomats from the Lithuanian Embassy in China and their families have left Beijing.

This is the latest move taken by Lithuania after the CCP and Lithuania have seriously deteriorated after Lithuania agreed to establish a “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania” in its capital Vilnius on July 20.

How do you view the withdrawal of all Lithuanian diplomats from China? The author believes that there are at least four things to watch:

First, it is a failure of the CCP’s diplomacy.

On November 18th, the sign of “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania” was officially hung on the wall at No. 16b J. Jasinskio Street in Vilnius. This is the first representative office in a European country under the name of Taiwan.

The Chinese Communist Party believes that Lithuania’s agreement to establish a “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania” violates the “one China” principle and creates “one China, one Taiwan.”

The crux of the problem is that the “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania” is not the “Embassy of the Republic of China in Lithuania.” Taiwan has “Taipei Representative Offices” in many countries and regions on the five continents of Asia, Australia, the United States, Europe, and Africa. The “Taiwan Representative Office” and the “Taipei Representative Office” are of the same nature, except that one is called “Taiwan” and the other is called “Taipei.” Why can’t this representative office be called Taiwan? Taiwan is just a place, not a country name. How can it violate the “One China” policy?

The highest state of diplomacy is to “turn wars into jade.” The two countries were about to fight. Diplomats shuttled back and forth between the two countries, using rationality and wisdom to resolve the contradictions, and shook hands between the two countries that were prepared to meet each other. This is the goal that diplomacy should strive for.

Lithuania has not violated the “one China” principle called by the CCP.

Although Lithuania is only a small country, the ruler is shorter and the inch is longer. Lithuania also has its strengths. For example, a high-tech industry in Lithuania occupies almost half of the world. From chip lithography machines to optical fiber communications, from medical diagnosis to national defense, laser technology is the supporting technology of the modern information industry, and Lithuania has long been an international leader in this field. A report from the Ministry of Commerce of the Communist Party of China stated that 85% of Lithuania’s laser equipment is exported to almost all countries in the world, and its femtosecond lasers account for 50% of the global market. Among the top 100 universities in the world, 90% of them use laser equipment made in Lithuania.

China can strengthen cooperation with Lithuania in the field of laser technology and benefit from it.

Nowadays, the CCP is entangled just to call “Taipei” or “Taiwan”, a small issue that does not violate the “One China” principle, and seems to fight Lithuania to the end. This is putting the cart before the horse. Not only does Lithuania not buy it, but the entire free world that shares universal values with Lithuania may not buy it.

Since the dispute between the Chinese Communist Party and Lithuania, the leader of the free world, the United States, has always supported Lithuania. The EU is also backing Lithuania. On November 21, the EU spokesperson made it clear that the EU believed that Lithuania did not violate the “One China” policy by allowing Taiwan to set up a representative office.

Second, Lithuania has no bottom line about the CCP.

Lithuania has been ruled by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union for nearly 50 years, and it hates the Communist Party’s bullying, bullying, and persecution that go beyond the moral and legal bottom line.

According to the British “Financial Times”, the CCP requires Lithuanian diplomats who remain in Beijing to submit diplomatic certificates to the CCP’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to reduce their diplomatic status. This move caused concerns in Lithuania, who feared that these officials might lose their diplomatic immunity. If they continue to stay in China, their safety will be at risk.

Another diplomatic person familiar with the situation said that their withdrawal was based on security considerations, because they encountered duress, and was a response to “intimidation.”

Since the dispute between the CCP and Lithuania, the CCP’s “Global Times” has abused Lithuania like a shrew on the street, claiming that “the population of this country is not as large as that of Beijing’s Chaoyang District. It is a mouse or even a flea under the feet of fighting elephants.” . If the CCP breaks diplomatic relations with Lithuania, it will only be a piece of “mosquito meat” missing from the CCP’s diplomatic cauldron. Punishing the Lithuanian authorities is like hitting a fly.

Since Lithuania is a “rat”, “fleas”, “mosquito”, and “fly”, what are Lithuanian diplomats in Beijing?

Third, it will inspire more countries to be friendly to Taiwan.

Since the outbreak of the dispute between the Chinese Communist Party and Lithuania, there have been more and more countries and people friendly to Taiwan. Groups of officials have visited Taiwan, and resolutions and reports supporting cooperation with Taiwan have been continuously released.

Following a delegation to Taiwan by Richard, Chairman of the Friends of Taiwan Group of the French Senate, on October 6, Dai Hujie, Chairman of the Friends of Taiwan Group of the French National Assembly, visited Taiwan on December 15. On November 29, the French National Assembly passed a high number of votes to support the Taiwan-Friendly Resolution of the Republic of China International’s participation.

On December 5, a 43-member delegation led by the Secretary of State for Government Affairs of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Slovakia Jiarek visited Taiwan on an administrative plane of the Slovak government.

On November 28, the parliamentary groups of the three Baltic countries of Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia arrived in Taiwan for a visit.

On November 3, a 13-member delegation from the European Parliament visited Taiwan. This is the first visit to Taiwan by a European official delegation.

On October 20, the European Parliament passed an overwhelming majority of 580 votes in favor, 26 votes against, and 66 abstentions to pass the “EU-Taiwan Political Relations and Cooperation” report. The report recommends that the European Economic and Trade Office in Taipei be renamed the European Economic and Trade Office in Taipei by Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy. This is the first official document in the history of the European Parliament to comprehensively enhance the relationship between the EU and Taiwan.

The cooperation between the United States and Taiwan continues to improve in all aspects.

Fourth, urge more countries and people to recognize the CCP.

Since the outbreak of the dispute between the CCP and Lithuania, the CCP has suppressed Lithuania from political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural aspects.

Diplomatically, on August 10, the CCP announced the recall of its ambassador to Lithuania and at the same time asked Lithuania to recall its ambassador to China. After the “Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania” was officially listed on November 18, the CCP downgraded its diplomatic relations with Lithuania to the “charge d’affaires level.” The Chinese Communist Party media even threatened to sever diplomatic relations with Lithuania.

Politically, the CCP media criticized Lithuania as a “pawn” of the United States and a “pawn” against Russia and the CCP. The Chinese Communist Party media even published “Is the capital of Lithuania the territory of Belarus? We can support this proposition! “The article is accused of “no lower limit” to provoke relations between Lithuania and Belarus.

Economically, the CCP Customs will remove Lithuania from the list of “countries of origin” from December 1, preventing Lithuanian goods from entering China; stop providing export credit guarantees for Lithuania’s imports from China; and put pressure on multinational companies not to China sells products using Lithuanian parts, or obtains supplies from China, etc.

Culturally, all cultural and artistic activities related to Lithuania in China have been suspended, and even the publication of books has been blocked.

The CCP has “extremely pressured” Taiwan to achieve its goals and does not scrutinize any means. Now, the CCP is the same with Lithuania. As long as Lithuania does not comply, the CCP will take various sanctions to force Lithuania to submit.

However, Lithuania has a tradition of resisting tyranny and is not alone in the international arena. It is Lithuania of the European Union, Lithuania of NATO, and Lithuania of the free world led by the United States.

When Lithuania filed a complaint with the EU about the CCP’s economic bullying, on December 8, the EU issued an “anti-coercion” trade sanctions law. When a third country imposes any type of political pressure and coercive measures on any EU member state, the EU will The three countries carried out “countermeasures”, including imposing tariffs and restricting imports from relevant countries.

At the same time, EU diplomatic representative Josep Borrell announced that the EU will fight any form of political pressure and coercion, if it is directed at a certain EU member state.

Concluding remarks

Just like Taiwan, the more the CCP suppresses, the more Taiwan will support Taiwan; the CCP’s comprehensive suppression of Lithuania will also prompt people in more countries and regions to recognize the essence of the CCP’s lies and secret tricks, and “if you go against me, you will die.” , To join the cause of eradicating the CCP and benefiting mankind led by the United States.
