With the massive presence of women, community leaders and representatives of civil society, Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila signed this Friday, March 8, the great Pact for the Women of Cesar en Marcha, as a strategy for gender equality and protection of the rights of this population in the department.

“This Pact for Women of Cesar en Marcha has eight important points to open more spaces for action for gender, without meaning the displacement of men, but equality of conditions, yes: seeking zero re-victimization and more social guarantees,” indicated the mandatory.

Leaders from different sectors joined the event, endorsing this great agreement for the defense of the rights and protection of women, trusting in the institutional commitment to improve the quality of life of those who by nature have had the immense responsibility of procreating, of being important part of society in which it was difficult for them for many years to have recognition and rights that have been restored through social struggles, but that even in the 21st century, in some cases, continue to be violated.

Days Aloma Ruiz, president of the Women’s Consultative Council, pointed out that “this pact means that we must work in unity, in articulation between the institutions and the citizens, and the organizations of the women’s social movement to contribute to the construction of opportunities that allow us to restore and compensate the rights of all sectors of women in Cesar. This is undoubtedly an unavoidable commitment that the departmental administration is making with the women’s social movement, and what we hope is for the public policy on women and gender equality to materialize that allows the restoration of the rights of this population.

Milena Ángel Sanabria, trans leader of the Cesar department, indicated that “it is about prioritizing a public policy that aligns all these initiatives, which obviously cannot remain a dead letter, but rather in actions that go hand in hand with resources that must be focused not only by the administration, but by us on how we can manage international organizations to support the guarantee of being a woman in the territory and the issue of rights.”

The governor of Cesar, Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila, in collaboration with municipal mayors, public entities and civil organizations, promoted this pact whose main objective is to protect the rights of women and combat gender violence, reaffirming the commitment to respond appropriately. relevant and timely to the needs of women in the region.

She indicated that “we continue the wonderful idea that industrialization is in the hands of women, demonstrating that we can measure up to the great challenges that any sector imposes on us, even the complex economy,” and highlighted that in her mandate as the first female governor of Cesar elected by popular vote will leave as a legacy 300 new classrooms for education, 288 new kilometers of roads, the construction of new hospitals, projects with Community Action Boards, investment projects in drinking water, sports venues, strengthening of the public force and the social fabric.
