The market supplies vegetables and fruits to many farmers’ markets and supermarkets in the city and has established cooperative relationships with vegetable bases and sales households nationwide. This ensures that the market is well-prepared to supplement any supply issues. Currently, vegetable supply is relatively stable, with imports from Guangdong and Hainan helping to maintain sufficient supply levels and keep prices from fluctuating significantly.
Mr. Su, a vegetable wholesaler, confirmed that while some prices have seen minor increases due to weather-related issues, overall prices remain relatively stable. Meanwhile, Qiu Qingcheng, deputy general manager of Xiamen Minxia Agricultural and Sideline Products Wholesale Market Co., Ltd., assured that the market’s daily transaction volume is sufficient to meet local demand.
At the Xia Shang (Songbai) Agricultural Products Market, a variety of fresh vegetables were on display for citizens to purchase. Local seasonal vegetables such as cabbage, chrysanthemum, and spinach were reported to be relatively cheap, with minor price increases due to the cold weather.
The Municipal Commerce Bureau also reported that the wholesale volume of vegetables in Xiamen was stable the previous week, with overall prices decreasing due to good weather conditions. However, they anticipate that the ongoing cold wave weather may cause slight fluctuations in vegetable prices in the coming weeks. Additionally, the approaching Spring Festival may lead to steady upward trends in pork and poultry prices.
