Zhang Bing and other leaders of the city’s four teams carry out voluntary tree planting activities

Yesterday was the 44th Arbor Day. Yesterday afternoon, Zhang Bing, Liu Dongsheng, Gao Linghui, Chen Lizhong, Shuai Sulang and other leaders of the four groups of the city, together with municipal officials, came to Jiaxing Provincial School to participate in the voluntary tree planting activities.

The spring breeze is blowing, and the vegetation is green and full of vitality. As soon as they arrive at the tree planting point, everyone opens WeChat, scans the QR code hanging on the sapling, logs in to the “Zheli Planting Tree” applet to complete the registration, and starts planting. Together, everyone shoveled to dig holes, straightened saplings, filled soil and rammed the seedlings, carried buckets for watering, and planted more than 200 saplings including beech, hackberry, osmanthus, magnolia, and camphor.

When planting trees, Zhang Bing fully affirmed the city’s achievements in afforestation in recent years. He pointed out that as a plain city, Jiaxing has made great progress in greening and afforestation, and the forest coverage rate has reached 12.7%, which is at the forefront of the province and even the whole country. In the next step, this work still needs to continue, further scientific planning, improve the quality of greening and afforestation, and coordinate the selection of some high-grade tree species and flowers, so as to turn Jiaxing into a green city of flowers.

Zhang Bing pointed out that carbon peaking and carbon neutrality is a solemn commitment made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on behalf of China to the world. To accomplish such a major historic task, everyone has the responsibility. When you plant a tree, you balance your carbon footprint. I hope that everyone can take active actions in this wonderful spring, go outdoors, plant a piece of green, and make every citizen’s due contribution to carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.

Zhang Bing said that planting trees in the upcoming Jiaxing Shengshen School is particularly meaningful. It takes ten years to cultivate trees and one hundred years to cultivate people. I hope our children can grow up like trees and become the pillars of the motherland. The party committee and the government will also build more schools like the provincial school to meet the growing demands of children and parents for high-quality education.
