No male or female Canavese team will play in the national phase of the Serie D Italian Cup (by regulation only the first classified of each group can access). On the seventh and last day, in the women’s group C only Calton San Giorgio smiles as they beat the Rivarolo volley away at the tie break: the first set in favor of the guests 20-25, then the reaction of the hosts who win 25-21. Calton who comes forward in the third fraction, 16-25 but Rivarolo re-establishes parity for the second time, thanks to the final 25-23. Finally, the fifth set smiles again at Calton: 15-17. Always at the tie break, but in this case Fortitudo Chivasso is defeated, away to Torino: things are going well for the Chivassese girls, given the first two sets won 23-25 and 20-25. From the third to the fifth set instead the collapse, with the Fortitudo exceeded 25-21, 25-20 and 17-15. In this group Cogne Aosta will go to the national stage, beating Verrès Evançon 3-0: of the Canavese area Calton closes third (14 points), Fortitudo fifth (8) and Rivarolo volley seventh (6). In the men’s field the Montanaro is also dry despite the 2-3 away victory in Alessandria (double Montanarese success in the first two sets 25-27 and 17-25, before the Alexandrian brace 25-19 and 25-17 and Montanarese victory at tie break 10-15). Sant’Anna di San Mauro wins at Alicese Santhià 1-3, going to 19 points, 4 more than the second Montanaro. –
