PORDENONE. A trained coach who lives on football 24 hours a day. And that “will arrive in Serie A”. To bet on Massimo Paci, new coach of Pordenone, is Eric Biasiol, central defender, who in Friuli played with Torviscosa (2017-2018, in Excellence) and was a player of the future leader of the lizards. The 24-year-old Croatian (from Rijeka) worked with the Marche coach in Serie D: first at Montegiorgio (2018-2019), then in Forlì (2019-2020), a team in which he also played last season.
Together with Andreas Gkertsos, Albanian full-back born in 2000, born in San Vito al Tagliamento and former Primavera Udinese, he was reported to Paci by Angelo Trevisan, head of the Friulian nursery, from Pordenone doc. The lateral had joined the coach only in the parenthesis in Romagna.
Biasiol, let’s get to the heart of the question immediately: what kind of coach will Pordenone find?
«As far as my experience is concerned, I can say that I have met a very prepared, professional person who lives his profession with great passion. Someone who lives off football, you can talk to him about it at all hours. He strongly believes in work: it is the only component that according to him allows to achieve certain results. There is no luck ».
How does he work in the field?
«He gives great importance to the defensive phase, he works daily and a lot on this aspect. In the first year of Serie D at Montegiorgio, with a newly promoted team in the category, we closed the tournament with one of the best rearguards of our group (43 goals collected, ed). We had to save ourselves: we waited for the opponent and left. The first few months we played with 3-5-2, after the transfer market we moved on to 4-2-3-1, a module that we alternated with 4-3-3. The following year at Forlì, with a more technical team than the previous one, he thought more about playing, but without neglecting the non-possession phase: until the stop due to the pandemic we had the best defense of our group (26 goals conceded in 24 games , ed)».
Until spring 2020 Paci was in Serie D, now he will coach a Serie B team. Are you surprised by the jump of his former coach?
«I was convinced that it could do well. In Interregionale there are few coaches like him, who stimulate you, transmit energy and teach you so much. For me it will reach even higher, in Serie A. I’m happy he had this opportunity, which he will be able to seize the best ».
What relationship do you have with the players?
«A loyal relationship. For him the group comes first, the individual takes a back seat. He always defends the team and knows how to pass on his ambitions and motivations. In Montegiorgio we had saved ourselves five days early, as a newly promoted player we had achieved our goal. But he didn’t feel satisfied, he wanted us to try to make it to the playoffs and we worked for that. Then we didn’t make it, but the anecdote makes us understand what his mentality is ».
