In Champdepraz there was a great show and a 3,200 meter long sprint (550 m D+) to try to win the opening evening vertical, with an individual and interval start. Record victory for Sébastien Guichardaz and Michela Comola, who lowered the times recorded last year by Dennis Brunod (22.19) and Lorella Charrance (29.51), who were second yesterday.
The ski mountaineer Sébastien Guichardaz (Apd Pont-Saint-Martin) won the overall race with a time of 22.01 and preceded Dennis Brunod (Atletica Monterosa Fogu Arnad) by 27″ and Alex Déjanaz (daily membership), who was 37″ behind. Fourth place for Henri Grosjacques (Atletica Monterosa Fogu Arnad) and fifth for Ruben Bovet (Lo Contrebandjé).
In the women’s race the first two athletes were separated by just one second. Top step of the podium for Michela Comola (Apd Pont-Saint-Martin; 29.49) who got the better of Lorella Charrance (Inrun; 29.50); third place for Stéphanie Béthaz (daily registration) in 30.47, then fourth and fifth positions for Anais Maluquin Segor (Lo Contrebandjé) and Jessica Gerard (Inrun).
The next stage of Soirée Vertikal is scheduled for Wednesday 15 May in Verrayes. 358 competitors are registered at the Grimpette de l’Arboretum; the second (non-competitive) test of Soirée Enfants is also combined with the adult competition. Registrations on irunning.it by Monday 13 May.
