Xinhua News Agency, Belgrade, May 15 (Reporter Shi Zhongyu) The 35th Serbia Belgrade Marathon was held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, on the 15th. Ethiopia’s Murgta and Sedar won the men’s and women’s full marathon championships in 2:12:59 and 2:34:1 respectively.
This marathon has three categories: full marathon, half marathon and 5km fun race, attracting nearly 7,000 participants. Ethiopian runners swept the top three of the men’s and women’s full marathon.
In an interview with a Xinhua News Agency reporter after the race, Murgta said: “I played better in this race, so I was able to win… This is the first time I won a marathon, and it was my best performance.”
Belgrade Marathon director Harbus told Xinhua News Agency that this year’s Belgrade Marathon is co-organized with China’s Xiamen Marathon, and it is hoped that such cooperation can be carried out for a long time. He said that Chinese runners and marathon enthusiasts are welcome to participate in the Belgrade Marathon next year.
In addition to professional athletes, some mothers pushed their baby strollers to run with their children, and some people took pet dogs to participate in the competition, which fully reflected the characteristics of national sports. Velikovic, 83, completed the half-marathon in 3:18. “For my age, the result is good, very good,” he said.
