European mtb, Marchet wears silver. Feltrina is super in Portugal

Second place in the short track. “I started from afar, for gold it wasn’t enough”

After the tricolor bronze, here is the European silver. It is the silver of Giorgia Marchet who yesterday in Anadia, Portugal, conquered the second place at the Elite continental championships in the short track, the new cross country formula that is played over a short time, about twenty minutes as opposed to the traditional time.

The biker from Feltre, who has been wearing the Trinx Factory Team jersey from this season, tried to compete hard from the very first rides, aware that the greater explosiveness of her opponents could have put her in difficulty in a tactical race.

It went well until the final lap when, thanks to a change of pace, the Swiss Ronja Blöchlinger managed to take the lead and cross the finish line by 13 ”ahead of Anzù’s girl. The gold was missing, but a great silver arrived which goes alongside the bronze medal won at the Italian championships in Courmayeur a few days ago.

Giorgia, you tried.

«I tried to keep up with the opponents by keeping the pace for a long time. Since I’m not explosive, I tried to weaken the opponents from a distance. A tactic that went well, except with Blochingher who showed all her power in the final ».

You still bring home your first medal with the blue shirt.

«Yes, for me it is the first medal with this prestigious shirt, which I am honored to wear. And then we broke the ice from the first day, filling the first box of the medal table ».

Today Giorgia will be back in the race, for her second and final day at the continental review. At 12.30, in fact, the team competition is scheduled. With her there will also be the other biker from Feltre, the under 23 pedavenese Giada Specia.

The blue team will be composed not only of the two Feltrine fans but also of Marco Betteo (Junior), Fabio Bassignana (Junior), Valentina Corvi (Junior) and Simone Avondetto (Under23). Again with regard to yesterday’s race, in the women’s Elite race there was bronze for the Swedish Linn Gustafzzon, with ninth Noemi Plankesteiner and tenth Letizia Marzani.

Among the Juniores the continental title went to Simona Spesna (Czech Republic) who overtook the Swiss Lea Huber who was the favorite on paper. Bronze for the other Swiss Monique Hanter who preceded the blue Lucrezia Braida. Well overall the blue who also took home the seventh square of Beatrice Fontana and the tenth of Marika Celestino. In the male category, in the Junior category, Elian Paccagnella ninth place and Gabriel Borre thirteenth.
