Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash against the Peruvian team. However, due to internal reasons, the Peruvian team had to change rivals, leading to a shift in plans for the Italian team. Donnarumma expressed surprise at this turn of events, stating, “We didn’t know that Peru would be our rival.”

Despite the change in opponents, Donnarumma took a moment to praise his friend and fellow footballer Gianluca Lapadula. He described Lapadula as a great striker and a hard worker, expressing his admiration for him.

As for Italy’s upcoming matches, they have scheduled friendlies against South American teams Venezuela and Ecuador on March 21 and 24, respectively, both taking place on North American soil.

The decision to not face Peru was explained by Professor Jorge Fossati, who cited the upcoming Copa América and Qualifiers matches as the main priorities for the Peruvian team. Fossati highlighted the importance of playing against similar rivals to those they will encounter in these competitions, leading to the change in plans regarding the match against Italy.
