Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games postponed and the seventh international event changed | Abandoned | Asian Games | Universiade

[Epoch Times, May 18, 2022]A few days ago, the 4th Asian Para Games, originally scheduled to be held in Hangzhou from October 9 to 15 this year, was postponed. This is the seventh international sports event that the Chinese authorities have postponed or suspended since the outbreak of the epidemic in mainland China.

Lu media reported that after consultation with all parties, the Asian Paralympic Committee Executive Committee decided on May 17 that the 4th Asian Paralympic Games, which was planned to be held in Hangzhou from October 9 to 15, would be postponed. The new date will be announced after consultation between the Asian Paralympic Committee, the Chinese Paralympic Committee and the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Committee.

The Hangzhou Asian Para Games was originally scheduled to be held after the 19th Asian Games. It will be the second time that the Asian Para Games will be held in mainland China, and Hangzhou will also become the second city to host the Asian Para Games.

Prior to this, the mainland has postponed and cancelled six sports events held this year and next. These include the postponed Hangzhou Asian Games, the Chengdu Universiade, and the World Table Tennis Championships, as well as the abandoned East Asian Cup football matches, the Shantou Asian Youth Games and the Asian Cup football matches.

Under the CCP’s adherence to the “dynamic clearing” policy, the above-mentioned large-scale events are said to be postponed and cancelled due to the epidemic.

On May 14, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the Chinese Organizing Committee has decided to give up the right to host the 2023 Asian Cup final week. On the same day, the Asian Cup China Organizing Committee issued a notice saying that due to the impact of the epidemic, it is currently difficult for the Chinese Organizing Committee to make commitments and arrangements for next year’s Asian Cup to be held in a “completely open mode”. .

According to “Phoenix Net Sports” report, the cancellation of the Asian Cup football game has caused more damage to Chinese sports than the postponement of the Asian Games and the Universiade.

The Asian Football Confederation, held every four years, was originally scheduled to take place from June 16 to July 16 next year in 10 mainland cities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi’an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou) held.

Mainland media reported that these 10 cities have invested tens of billions of dollars to build, rebuild and renovate 10 stadiums that meet the conditions for hosting the Asian Cup. The cancellation of the game means that the investment of tens of billions of dollars may be in vain.

However, mainland fans are puzzled by the cancellation of the Asian Cup football match to be held in June next year.

The netizen “Truth Channel” said, “It is deeply alarming that the Asian Cup in June 2023 will be held in a different region. Does it mean that our harsh epidemic prevention measures have to continue until the second half of next year?”
