A secret meeting in London, which lasted about 8 hours. Christian Horner was heard by independent lawyers hired by Red Bull after the opening of an internal investigation against him started by an employee who accused him of inappropriate behavior.
A story that is shaking the entire Formula 1, the world champion team and England due to the popularity of the character married to the former Spice Girls, Geri Haliwell. It could have sensational implications if the team principal, who has led the team since its foundation (first World Championship in 2005), was removed or forced to resign. Certainly the matter is complex and delicate as confirmed by the length of the meeting about which very little transpires and which did not lead to a decision. Horner would have reiterated his innocence, also explaining that he had no intention of stepping aside or suspending himself until the investigation was concluded.
The feeling that the verdict will not arrive in a very short time, in F1 circles it is said that it could take weeks. A scenario also confirmed by BBC Sport and Sky Sports UK, well informed on the matter who even speak of a postponement beyond the first race of the World Championship (2 March in Bahrain). The more time passes, however, the more shadows and rumors grow about a power war for control of the Milton Keynes racing team, which exploded after the death of owner Mateschitz: the presentation of the new Red Bull RB20 is scheduled for Thursday 15 February in Milton Keynes with drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. And in theory with Horner himself, who in the meantime could be heard again by the lawyers.
The situation can change quickly, meanwhile on Friday Racing Bulls – the new name of Red Bull’s second team – presented the 2024 single-seater in Las Vegas.
