VOGHERA
Vogherese is increasingly convinced of her strength and confidently approaches the top-ranking derby on the Varzi pitch.
The positive atmosphere of the Rossoneri environment, enhanced by the six consecutive victories, emerges from the words of Alessandro Lorusso, 30-year-old central defender of Voghe, protagonist of a season with all the trimmings, for continuity of performance and leadership. The Apulian defender from Fasano, frames the current events and perspectives of Voghe. How do you live this race with Varzi?
«We come from an excellent period, in which we have put our hearts on the field and we have made important performances. We are level on points with Varzi and this match can be a turning point, without neglecting that it is a derby, so it has even more meaning. Varzi, as an individual, is well equipped, but we have a very close group. Then, we will have our fans who will push us, as happens in all games. Last Sunday, at the end of the match, I took a ball-and-chain ride thanks to the energy the fans gave me ».
What went into the squad this month where you collected six wins?
«“ After the draw with the Accademia Pavese, we looked at each other and fixed what wasn’t working. That constructive confrontation helped a lot ».
Tactically, did the three-man defense give you more certainty? “In the difficult moment we were going through, it gave us more stability and safety. We have refined the defense mechanisms, with Gabrielli and Fasoli a great understanding has been created. With me in the center, they can be more aggressive in marking and the whole team has become more aggressive ».
In Varzi’s match, and for the next three days, you will miss De Toni between the posts due to disqualification. How much will the absence of him weigh?
“De Toni is a pillar for us, but seeing how Pittaluga trains every day, we have the utmost confidence in him.”
As a goal, do you want to consolidate in the playoffs or do you look even higher?
«Honestly, we left a few points on the road, without forgetting the two penalty points. In front, then, there is the Varesina which is traveling at a high pace. We have to think about one game at a time, of course we are mentally fine now. This is a young group, which has always raced and fought, now we are also acquiring that competitive nastiness which is crucial to being able to stay at the top and win games ».
During your career, you have also had two experiences abroad, between Spain, in the Third Division with Silva (Galician team from La Coruna), and Hungary, in Serie A, with the Honved of Budapest. What did they transmit to you?
«In Spain, I learned their football culture, they always play there and never throw the ball away. In addition, there is great serenity off the pitch. In Hungary, I was only 4 months, but I played with high quality teammates. We participated in the Europa League, and there were 15 national teams in the squad. If we talk about professionalism, nothing compares to Italy ».
Do you have any regrets about your career?
«Let’s say I missed the important train as a young man. I gave up a little mentally when Sampdoria put me out of the squad, telling me that I was not part of the technical plans. I was 19, and that, psychologically, was a blow. If I had had today’s head, I probably would have made another career, but I don’t live with regrets. Today I’m happy to be in Voghera, where I feel great with everyone ». – ALESSANDRO QUAGLINI
