National Archery Team Launches Paris Olympic Trials in Guangxi
China News Service, Nanning, March 10 (Huang Lingyan) – The national archery team is gearing up for the Paris Olympics at the Wuming Sports Training Base of the Guangxi Sports Bureau, where the second trial for the Paris Olympics is currently underway. The results of this competition will play a crucial role in selecting teams to compete in the 2024 World Cup and ultimately, the final team for the Olympic Games.
On the first day of the trials on March 10, athletes put on impressive performances, with many achieving their personal bests since winter training. Li Jiaman, a member of the Beijing women’s archery team, shot an impressive 692 rings, tying the world record set by South Korean star Jiang Chaeyoung at the 2019 World Championships in the Netherlands.
Li Jiaman, who won the women’s recurve archery individual silver medal and the women’s team gold medal at the 14th National Games, credited her success to the systematic training she received during winter training and good communication with her coach. She overcame injuries and achieved outstanding results in the selection. Looking ahead, Li Jiaman remains focused on the process, expressing her determination to make breakthroughs in future competitions.
Mu Yong, director of the Archery Sports Department of the Shooting and Archery Sports Management Center of the State Sports General Administration, emphasized the importance of the trials in qualifying for the Olympics. The Wuming Base, with its suitable venue and climate conditions, has been instrumental in verifying the national team’s training results since winter training and boosting confidence for upcoming games.
The Wuming Sports Training Base of the Guangxi Sports Bureau, established over 40 years ago, has a rich history of hosting major international and domestic events such as the International Archery Invitational Tournament, the Asian Games National Archery Trials, and the Rio Olympic Trials. With over 6,000 participating athletes and 40 national records to its name, the base continues to serve the national archery team, provincial and municipal archery teams, and Guangxi’s exceptional sports teams.
