The Kansas City Chiefs have added another offensive threat to their roster by agreeing to terms with European rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit, a source confirmed. Rees-Zammit is expected to initially play on the offensive side of the ball, potentially as a running back or wide receiver. The 23-year-old from Wales announced in January that he would try his hand at playing in the NFL. After participating in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program and impressing with a 4.43-second 40-yard dash time, Rees-Zammit visited several teams before ultimately signing with the Chiefs.
This season marks the first time each team has a practice squad spot specifically designated for an international player. Additionally, teams can elevate a player from the international practice squad to the active roster up to three times during the season, providing more opportunities for international players to develop and potentially see playing time.
