Chris Evert is still one of the most successful players in tennis history. Now she is fighting for her life. The cancer has returned. The 69-year-old reports from the hospital with an appeal.
Chris Evert will not be at the Australian Open in Melbourne this year. The former tennis superstar, now 69 years old, normally works as a TV expert for the US broadcaster ESPN at local tournaments, but her illness now prevents her from doing so. The former world number one’s cancer has returned. She announced this back in December. Now she shows herself in a photo from the hospital.
The American posted two pictures on social networks. She wrote an appeal: “Off to my 3rd round of chemo. Half is done. A reminder to get checked, learn your family history, and be your own advocate for your health. Early detection is crucial!”

The 18-time Grand Slam winner was diagnosed with early-stage ovarian cancer for the first time in December 2021. Her sister Jeanne Evert Dubin died of the disease in February 2020 at the age of 62.
“Doctors found cancer cells in the same pelvic region”
Now Evert is affected for the second time; she had already said in December: “Although it is a diagnosis that I never wanted to hear, I am once again happy that it was recognized early. Doctors found cancer cells in the same pelvic region. All cells were removed and I started another round of chemotherapy.”
