Doing better than last season. It is the goal of a Derthona who starts without proclamations but with the awareness of knowing how to consolidate in the category after three championships won in the carriage and the salvation in Serie D of 2020-21. Yesterday the meeting and the first training session, under the orders of Mr. Giovanni Zichella who took over the course. For him consolidated mechanisms, for over twenty years of career: “I will bring my usual methods, with more tactical work than physical – he explains – We have an excellent technical and athletic staff, set up every year also enhancing local professionalism and integrated with other figures, but I believe above all in the importance of doing a lot of tactical work, rather than physical loads. I also wanted to do several in-depth individual interviews with all players, both new and confirmed, for an accurate technical and human selection ».
On the tactical level, the modules seen last season were the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-3-3: “I will vary according to the opponents, rather than the elements supplied – specifies the Juventus coach – The thing that I want to convey to the players is the combativeness, the ability to react, the feeling of being fierce against everyone and the determination to achieve the objectives ». Objectives that mainly consist in improving the last placement: “We have built a younger team, with more legs and with elements that already have experience in the category”, underlines the ds Luca Sacco, who together with the coach, the managing director Roberto Canepa and the president Fabio Toso is taking care of the preparation of the squad, still incomplete. «Taking advantage of some mistakes made, we aim not to take too many risks, conquering salvation in advance and then seeing what can happen».
The pre-season journey
Since yesterday the team has been working at the “Fausto Coppi” in Tortona, where it will carry out the entire preparation: friendly matches or, better, joint training sessions, still being defined, for Ferragosto with San Domenico d’Asti and on the 21st triangular in Gavi; official matches only in September, the Italian Cup on the 12th and the championship on the 19th. Team renewed and to be completed: hunting for a young central defensive player, a midfielder and a strong striker; ten elements confirmed, of which four mature (Teti, Emiliano, Gjura, Spoto) and six under, including Kanteh, Mutti and perhaps Gueye. Among the new ones, the defensive center Todisco taken from Casale, the midfielder Colantonio from Fiorenzuola, the winger Saccà from Vado and the promising midfielders born in 2002 Grieco, from Bologna, and Filip, from Pont Donnaz stand out.
