[Epoch Times August 13, 2021](Interview and report by Epoch Times reporter Gu Xiaohua) The epidemic situation in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province is still increasing at a double-digit rate every day. The Sijiyuan community in Wutang Community, Shuangqiao Street, the city has always been in a high-risk area. Jin Jiang (a pseudonym), a resident who is also a volunteer and the owner, disclosed the isolation and closure of the community to the Epoch Times reporter.

According to Yangzhou official data, on August 12, there were 25 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia (CCP virus) in Yangzhou. The city’s epidemic situation has surpassed that of Nanjing. Although the official media reports every day, because the authorities have consistently concealed the epidemic situation, the real situation is unknown to the outside world.

Sijiyuan Community is the largest residential area in Yangzhou City, with more than 100 buildings and 8043 residents. It has been closed for management since the night of July 30, and it has been half a month.

Volunteer Jin Jiang revealed to the Epoch Times reporter that there were 54 confirmed cases in Four Seasons Garden in one day on the 11th. The elderly accounted for the vast majority, and more than 30 buildings were under closed management.

“If a corridor is diagnosed or suspected or has a fever, the entire corridor will be sealed. Starting from the 10th, which corridor will be diagnosed, the entire building will have to be removed, and the management and control will be upgraded. (At the same time) the surrounding five The building was sealed up.”

Jin Jiang admitted that since the closure on July 30, residents have been emotionally unstable. Many residents have no reserves in their homes, making it difficult to buy vegetables, and more than one hundred widows and lonely elderly households have been in trouble with three meals a day.

Community staff did not act with the property and did not effectively solve the residents’ living problems. At the same time, 7 of the 9 community grid members were close contacts and were isolated, and only 2 were working. Therefore, only the community staff was completely With insufficient manpower, the owners spontaneously organized a volunteer team.

“When our team was at most 25 people, then some of the previous volunteers withdrew, and now there are 18 people left. Too tired, I wake up at six o’clock, and basically can’t go home until two or three o’clock. For a multi-person service target, what is the concept? Buying vegetables, buying medicine, sending disinfectant, and sending alcohol, you have to get it.”

According to the reporter’s understanding, at the beginning of the closure, many residents were unable to buy food, so they formed a group to find a way to solve the problem of eating. Some individual volunteers ordered eggs for the residents, but they were intercepted by the security guards at the door and were not allowed to enter, causing disputes.

Jin Jiang said: “That was a group of volunteers in the early stage. They organized a purchase on behalf of themselves. The government and the community had to manage the money and goods and not let private operations. Therefore, this contradiction arose during that period, and volunteers were not allowed to enter. , After mediation, I will definitely go in.”

He also said that the closure was too sudden at first, and many residents did not have any preparations, especially many young people. Living here is like a dormitory. I couldn’t order it, and the situation improved after they joined the group.

Jin Jiang also revealed that their volunteers are now mainly responsible for the three meals a day for more than one hundred widows, elderly people and the disabled to provide their livelihood security. This is a self-help behavior for residents.

He also said that volunteers sometimes wait for an hour to wait for the meal delivery night, while the old people wait there with the door open and crying.

“Young people in other households buy food by themselves, order it by themselves, through friends, through the community’s ordering hotline, but they can’t come out. The food is organized and placed at our door, and distributed to each household through our volunteers.”

He said that before, volunteers came to deliver goods. Now there is a table at the entrance of the corridor, especially in the closed building. They are not allowed to enter. They put the dishes on the table, and then use the horn to call the owner to come down and pick up the dishes. Come out one by one to get vegetables.

Jin Jiang said that volunteers must have a certificate of two shots of the vaccine. Five nucleic acid tests are also limited in age. Men must be under 50 years old and women must be under 40 years old. “Because of the high labor intensity, the age There are requirements.”

He also said that as a volunteer, he was afraid of infection, “but there is no way. Volunteers in society are not familiar with the terrain.”

Another volunteer also posted on his Weibo about the difficulties of the community during the closed period.

The post wrote: “Our community accounts for the largest number of communities in Yangzhou. A community that even the medical staff doesn’t want to come to support, let alone the agency leaders…”

The post also revealed, “From the first day the community was closed, the community was in a mess. It was said that there were 15 community workers, the so-called leaders, but I didn’t see it the first day I entered. Many jobs were not handed over. There is no plan, no one to support us, the gate of the community is tightly sealed by iron sheets… It is miserable, and I want to cry without tears. These days when the community is closed, the calculation (test) is performed once every two days on average, and it is not considered formal until the fourth time. Point, it’s not just dragging a resident to start nucleic acid. Besides killing, there was no real killing until the 9th. There were constant complaints every day and the mayor’s hotline. Finally, we waited for a decent killing. kill.”

“In the early days of the team, we did not have supplies, even the most basic protective materials. Relying on the materials actively raised by a big brother in the team, the team was still strong at first, but with the high-intensity work, there were heat strokes. There are people who are worried about infection, or because the floors are diagnosed and then sealed. We only have 12 left…. It is not easy to be able to persist until the end.”

Some residents said that even if the number of confirmed cases is cleared, they will need to be quarantined for another 14+7 days before they can be released. Since there are new cases in the Four Seasons Garden every day, the release may be indefinitely.
