SASSARI. The final of the Padel D series is all downhill for the Sassari team. Milan 26 last Saturday won the title of regional champion by beating the opponents of Easy Sport Capoterra 3-0. Now the six players have qualified for access to the next phase, namely the national one, which will be played in Rome in September.
Cinzia Masala, Assia Diletti, Alessandro Panu, Michele Arru and the brothers Enrico and Luca D’Angelo will deal with the other twenty-three teams that, in their respective regions, have passed the first phase and will now compete for access to the national series championship. C. But there will only be room for eight teams, so via Milano 26 will necessarily have to go through two rounds. The level, at this stage, is decidedly high, because the Sassari will clash with realities where the padel has taken root for several years and the players have more competitive experiences with this discipline. In any case, the six athletes showed that their excellent tennis technical background was quickly converted on the padel courts, and the result at the regional level is proof of the good level achieved.
The final played in the facilities of via Milano 26, was one-way: the female couple Masala-Diletti, the first to take the field, won 6-4 and 6-2 against Pintor Siddi. Then it was the turn of the men’s doubles with Panu-Arru who definitively closed the practice with a photocopy result, defeating Caravati-Gallus 6-4 6-2.
The third challenge, with the result already achieved, for the d’Angelo brothers was a formality: they won against the Piga-Secci couple in two sets with 6-4 6-4. Now the Sassari athletes have two months to prepare for the difficult national phase.
