Paris Olympic Games to Host Approximately 320,000 Spectators at Opening Ceremony
China News Service, Paris, March 5 (Reporter Li Yang) French officials have confirmed that approximately 320,000 spectators holding tickets will be attending the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Security details for the event have also been disclosed.
French Interior Minister Darmanin made the announcement regarding the opening ceremony, revealing that out of the 320,000 spectators, 100,000 had purchased tickets while 220,000 had obtained free tickets. An additional 200,000 people will be able to watch the ceremony from buildings and locations along the Seine River.
The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee previously announced that the opening ceremony will take place along the Seine River and its surrounding areas, deviating from the traditional stadium setting. Tens of thousands of athletes will make their grand entrance via boat, promising a unique and unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
Security officials revealed that a total of 180 boats will be part of the opening ceremony, with 94 carrying athletes. The route will begin at the Austerlitz Bridge and end at the Jena Bridge near the iconic Eiffel Tower, passing by landmarks such as the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre along the way.
In terms of security measures, a 150-kilometer radius around Paris will have restricted airspace from 7:00 to midnight on the night of the opening ceremony on July 26. This will impact operations at major airports in the region. Despite the heightened security, Darmanin assured the public that there are no specific terrorist threats targeting the Paris Olympics at this time.
