Obsidian Entertainment‘s upcoming RPG, “Avowed,” is set to offer gamers a massive fantasy world to explore. The game, set in a country called the Living Lands, will allow players to bring allies along on their journey.
According to a recent article on Xbox Wire, game directors Carrie Patel and Gabe Paramo explained that the companions in “Avowed” will go beyond just providing instructions in combat. These allies will have deep ties to different regions of the Living Lands and will offer geographical advantages and more.
“They all have their own personal reasons for wanting to ally with the player and help them resolve the major conflicts you encounter during the game,” the directors explained. “They are your allies – in a way, they are your advisors, your local guides. They provide a lot of additional commentary and background that reveals not only their character but also the corners of the world you are exploring.”
The interactions with these allies will also have a significant impact on gameplay. If your choices are not appreciated by your allies, it will affect your relationship with them. The game developers emphasized that both big and small choices will have an impact on the player’s experience.
“Creating these choices, like big choices that impact the outcome of a mission or the well-being of certain characters or communities, is just as important as the small choices you make in a conversation and affect you in subtle ways with another character relationship,” the directors added. “All of this revolves around making the player the protagonist in this scene.”
“Avowed” is set to launch later this year on PC and Xbox Series S/X, and will be included in Game Pass. Gamers are eagerly anticipating the release, as the game promises to offer a unique and immersive experience in a rich fantasy world.
