Hennessey Special Vehicles Set to Surpass 300 mph with Venom F5 in 2024
Hennessey Special Vehicles has announced its ambitious plans to break the 300 mph barrier with its Venom F5 supercar in 2024. The company aims to celebrate the world‘s fastest car record, which was set a decade ago, by surpassing the 300 mph mark.
Hennessey previously made headlines in 2014 when the Venom GT set a world record top speed of 270.49 mph, making it the fastest car equipped with a manual transmission. This feat allowed Hennessey to surpass the previous record held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
The company has recently achieved a milestone by delivering all 22 customer vehicles of the Venom F5 supercar. It has also expanded its engineering team as it moves towards breaking the V-max record.
Founder and CEO John Hennessey expressed his excitement about the competition, stating, “It is competition like this that inspires our passion and drives us to go faster and innovate more. With 22 customer vehicles delivered and a newly expanded engineering team, we are ready to refocus our attention on making the Venom F5 realize its potential.”
Hennessey has recruited former AMG ONE chief engineer Brian Jones and 2023 Pikes Peak Hill Climb record-setting racer David Donohue to work on showcasing the Venom F5’s capabilities. Jones, as the vice president of engineering, stated, “We are confident we have the ability to achieve our goals, so our team will work hard to optimize power delivery and aerodynamics while pushing for top speed.”
Additionally, American racing champion David Donohue joins Hennessey as its supercar test driver in 2023, bringing over three decades of racing experience to the team.
Although all 24 Venom F5 Coupes for 2021 have been sold, Hennessey continues to produce convertibles and other track-focused Venom F5 derivatives based on customer demand. The company’s pursuit of surpassing 300 mph with the Venom F5 promises to be a monumental achievement in the world of hypercars.
