Prime subscribers woke up this morning to a pleasant email. Starting April 9, 2024, Prime VideoAmazon’s streaming service, will show advertising when watching films, shows and TV series.
The email explains that advertising is necessary for “continue to invest in quality content and increase these investments over time and consequently support the maintenance of the quality and quantity of the content included in Prime Video”. Furthermore, it assures that the number of advertisements will be “significantly lower” than on traditional television and other streaming services.

Anyone who doesn’t like advertising has the option to delete it paying a supplement of 1.99 euros per monthby accessing your subscription settings. This way, you can continue to enjoy Prime Video content without advertising.
This move by Amazon follows that of other streaming giants, such as Netflix and Disney Plus, who have already introduced advertising spots in their subscriptions, justifying it with the need to finance their original content.
For viewers, there seems to be no choice but to accept the advertising or pay more to avoid it.
