German football legend Andreas Brehme has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday. This is reported by the German newspaper Bild.
He lived to be 63 years old and leaves behind a wife and two adult sons.

Brehme became world champion with West Germany in 1990. He scored the decisive goal on a penalty kick in Rome against Diego Maradona’s Argentina. He played a total of 86 games and scored eight goals for West Germany and Germany.
At club level he played for Saarbrücken, Kaiserslautern, Bayern Munich, Inter and Real Zaragoza. After his playing career, he was a coach for Kaiserslautern and SpVgg Unternachting, as well as an assistant in Stuttgart.

In January this year, Franz Beckenbauer died. Perhaps Germany’s best footballer, who was also the coach of the team that won the World Cup gold in 1990. Brehme spoke in the German media about his grief after Beckenbauer’s death.
