The heat of football often means that players and coaches disagree at important moments in games, and that was precisely what happened in this Saturday’s duel between São Bernardo and Corinthians (1-0), valid for the Campeonato Paulista. The Brazilian press reveals that Mano Menezes, the team’s coach, was indignant at Yuri Alberto and, without thinking twice, gave the forward a ‘scold’: “Are you stupid? Are you stupid?”, he allegedly shouted. According to ‘ESPN Brasil’, Mano Menezes did not forgive Yuri Alberto after he fouled the opposing central defender, when São Bernardo was in the first phase of construction. The player arrived late to the game and ended up hurting his opponent, who remained lying on the floor for a few minutes, forcing the medical team to come in. At the end of the meeting, the coach explained the incident. “The game is a place where words are strong, but then [do apito final] We hug because we know it’s nothing personal. The attitude may have been stupid at that moment, you cannot commit an offensive foul when you have a [jogador] more. It’s always about the attitude, not the person. If they want to do a reality show…”, explained Mano Menezes, at a press conference.
Yuri Alberto, it should be noted, ended up being substituted in the 79th minute.
