With a room at two thirds of its capacity, it arrived for the first time in the capital of Zamorana Nat Simonsto present their latest album in trio format “Felines” (Beatclap, 24), a self-produced album in which a good handful of artists collaborate (most of them female) such as Anni B Sweet, Vega, Rufus T. Firefly o Cherrie Currie. The night opened, for “warm up the atmosphere”In his own words, Suso Diazaccompanied by his partner in the Appaloosas, Elena Poza. Together they performed with guitar and piano the songs of the Andalusian singer, who travels through American roots rock somewhere between blues and country, highlighting songs such as “Devil’s Den”, “Riverside” or “Jinglin’ Around”.
With the audience already in the mood he jumped onto the stage Nat Simonsaccompanied by her sister Elena Poza (who did not leave the stage all night) to the keyboards and with Angel Solana on the guitar, in addition to the intermittent presence of himself Suso Diaz to form a quartet, giving more packaging and strength to the songs. The artist was reeling off songs from all the albums she has composed, interspersing new songs with some of her beginnings, and performing songs in Spanish from the latest ones –“Televisión”, “Déjalo ser” or “Ley animal”–, along with those of the beginning of his career in English –“Ain’t No Blues”, “Endless Summer” or “The Way It Is”–, going from the folk of his beginnings to the pop that is approaching in this new stage.
The continuous interaction with the audience extended throughout the concert, reaching a dialogue in which he recounted anecdotes and confessions from this new album, even with the promise of returning with the entire band in a more electric concert. In the absence of the guest voices that accompany her on the album, Elena performed them with ease, demonstrating that she has as good a voice as her sister Nat, standing out in songs like “I don’t care at all” or the version of Patti Smith “The night is… Because The Night.” After a little more than an hour and a half of concert they said goodbye, leaving a very good taste in the mouths of the attendees, waiting for that promised date with the entire band in the hopefully not too distant future.
