Coveted by Bayern and Liverpool, Xabi Alonso reveals the next step in his career

Leader of the Bundesliga and coveted by European football giants such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Spanish coach Xabi Alonso revealed this Friday (29) that he will remain at Bayer Leverkusen for next season.

At a press conference, the 42-year-old coach stated that he had reached an agreement with the club to remain at the helm of the team.

“I had time to reflect on this stop for the national team games. I will stay at [Bayer] Leverkusen. Now all the cards are on the table to go all out until the end of the season. This is where I want to be,” said Alonso.

“My work at Bayer is not over. I want to help players develop. I’m still a young coach and I believe this is the best decision for my future”, he added.

Bayer Leverkusen, which has never been national champion, leads the Bundesliga with 70 points, ten more than second place, Bayern Munich — owner of the last 11 titles in the competition. There are eight rounds left until the end of the tournament.
