Dani Alves has reportedly been removed from the list of legends Barcelona . This happened after he was sentenced to prison for his rape case.

On February 22, 2024, Alves was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. The reason was because he raped a 23 year old woman at a nightclub in Barcelona in December 2022.

Apart from that, the 40 year old defender was also ordered to pay a fine of 9,000 Euros (Rp. 152.8 billion). The money must be paid for physical damage caused to the victim.

Alves’ lawyer, Ines Guardiola, said that her client would appeal the decision. Alves himself denied making this mistake.

However, amidst this unpleasant news, according to a Goal International report released on Tuesday (27/2/2024), Barcelona has now removed him from their official list of club legends. This decision was reportedly made as a result of the case he was accused of.

The list of legendary Barcelona players alone totals 102 people. Famous names such as Lionel Messi and the club’s founder, Joan Gamper, are included.

Then there are Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique who were recently appointed legends of the Catalan giant club. However, now Alves’ name no longer appears in that section on the club’s official website.

Alves himself is a legend at the Blaugrana – Barcelona’s nickname – by making 408 appearances in all competitions in his two periods there. He won six Spanish League titles and three Champions League titles and many other achievements.

After that, Alves defended big clubs such as Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla. Apart from that, he also recorded 126 caps for the Brazilian national team.

Alves was listed as a player for the Mexican League club, PUMAS, when he was first arrested for the rape case in January 2023. However, after that his contract was immediately terminated by the club.
